1. What is an application ID?
  Ans. It is a unique system generated number which is given to your application against a particular job. As and when a candidate successfully applies for a job, an application ID is generated which is unique and would be used for all your future correspondence with the employer.
2. How do I know that I am eligible for the job?
  Ans. Every time while applying for the job, candidate has to fill in the Eligibility form. All jobs have a set of some premature checks established in the backend which determines if the candidate is eligible to apply for the job or not. Only when itís determined that the candidate is eligible, he would be taken to the application form or otherwise would be shown the message that he canít proceed with the application for this particular reason. The purpose of the Eligibility check is to make sure only suitable candidates can apply for the job and leads to the saving of time, efforts and money on the part of the candidate.
3. Are there any relaxations provided for SC/ST/OBC/PWD etc. category candidates?

Ans. There is a set of relaxations which is provided to the SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates. Please find the matrix below for the same.

  • Relaxation of age, experience as per Govt. guidelines exists for posts reserved for SC/ST/OBC and will be as under: Upper age is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST, by 10 years for PWD candidates, by 3 years for OBC candidates, by 5 years for candidates who had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period 01.01.80 to 31.12.89. and as per GOI rules for XSM. Candidates belonging to OBC category, but coming in the creamy layer are not entitled to the benefits of OBC.
  • Total length of experience will be relaxed by 1 year where prescribed experience is 3 to 5 years and be relaxed by 2 years where prescribed experience is more than 6 years for SC/ST candidates. There shall be no relaxations in the minimum service required in the next below grade service as prescribed in the experience requirement. The requirement of 60% marks (wherever prescribed) in qualification is relaxed to passmarks for SC/ST/PWD candidates.
4. How can I pay for the application?
  Ans.State Bank of India has been authorized to collect the registration fee, in a specially opened account (A/C No. 30987919993) at CAG branch, New Delhi (Code: 09996), on behalf of NTPC. Candidate has to approach the nearby SBI branch with a printout of the “pay-in-slip” which is available on the application registration portal. The pay-in-slip printed from the portal should only be used for depositing the fee for proper crediting of amount in the allocated account. On receipt of the money, the bank will issue a unique Journal Number and a Branch Code of the bank collecting the money. This journal number and the branch code are to be filled up by the candidate during online registration. NTPC will not be responsible, in case a candidate deposits the fee in wrong account. There will not be any other mode of payment of registration amount. Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances. Candidates are therefore requested to verify their eligibility before paying the registration fee.
5. How would I be contacted by NTPC if being short listed for interview?

6. How would my total work experience be calculated?
  Ans. . If in case the candidate is currently working, then his total work experience would be calculated till the last date of receipt of application rather than till his date of applying.
7. What all documents that I need to send while applying for the Job?
  Ans. Once you have successfully applied for the job online, you have to take the print out of the landing page where your application id is generated. No document is required to send to us by post.
8. Is relaxation & concession is applicable to a particular category for which there is no vacancies identified ?
  Ans. Relaxation in age, percentage in qualifying degree, experience etc. shall not be applicable to such category for which there is no vacancies identified. For example: If there is no vacancies identified for ST category in a particular discipline, no relaxation in age, percentage in qualifying degree, experience etc. shall be extended and such ST category candidates will be treated as General category candidates. However, the exemption in application fee will be extended.
